Introducing Sorobanathon: Equinox

Some things in life are guaranteed — the Earth’s revolution around the sun, panda bears being extremely adorable, and the release of a new Sorobanathon. That’s right, the next phase of SDF’s $100M Soroban Adoption Fund is here, Sorobanathon: Equinox. Equinox is similar to First Light (check out First Light’s retrospective here: Sorobanathon: First Light Retrospective) but with bigger prize opportunities and a new submission platform.

What to submit

Similar to First Light, we are looking for you to experiment, build, and tinker with Soroban and then create content to share your experience. Garnering feedback during Soroban’s development is invaluable as we work to energize and foster the Soroban ecosystem. Your input will not only help make Soroban as stellar as possible but will also help attract and onboard new developers.

What kind of content are we looking for? Well, anything, really! You can earn between 25 and 10,000 XLM for each qualified submission. Whether you’re reporting a small bug or building more extensive projects, any submission is welcome. Submission ideas include:

  • Soroban tools
  • GitHub issues
  • Written and video content
  • Code examples
  • Tutorials

If you’re still scrambling for ideas, you can always use some of the Sorobanathon: First Light projects as inspiration! Here are some cool ones:

  • rahimklaber — DAO Smart Contract: In this example DAO contract, members can create proposals and execute them if enough members have voted. DAO members earn reputation for participating in the DAO and can use it to vote on proposals.
  • Skjaldbaka17 — Tic Tac Toe Smart Contract Tutorial: A tutorial on how to build a Tic Tac Toe Contract invokable by two players. The contract stores whose turn it is and the board composition. Players take turns invoking to place their mark until there's a winner.

Details and resources

Sorobanathon: Equinox starts on February 3rd (today!) and will run until April 1st. If you have any questions regarding the program, feel free to DM @Anuxhya in Discord.

There are many ways to familiarize yourself with Soroban. A good place to start is by perusing the Soroban docs or reviewing Stellar Quest Live Series 5. Or if you’ve already played Stellar Quest and you’re wondering what’s next, submitting to Sorobanathon: Equinox is a great way to continue your Soroban journey.

And, of course, there’s the Stellar Developer Discord. Find answers to your questions and interact with devs that are both building on Soroban and building Soroban itself.
