Monthly RoundUp

May 2020

Executive Director Message

It’s been a busy month for SDF. We announced our two latest investments from the enterprise fund in Abra and SatoshiPay. We’ve been getting things in place for the update to Stellar Core Protocol 13. We hosted a number of virtual events, like an engineering talk on Kelp and a webinar on compliance & our partnership with Elliptic. Not to mention, we took the virtual stage at Consensus: Distributed in the Foundations track.

And one of the things I’m most excited about is that we announced our dates for this year’s Meridian, Stellar’s 2nd annual conference — we’re going virtual from November 16 to 20 to talk about Global Connection to Solve Real World Challenges. To me, this theme reflects such a core driver of our work in this ecosystem. SDF has been focused in our efforts to drive equitable access to the global financial system and the Stellar community has been at the forefront of creating a more connected, efficient system. The last few months of the COVID-19 pandemic  has shined a light on the need for what the Stellar community has been working hard to address — a more effective and efficient way for everyone on the planet to be connected. As I’ve said many times before, I believe it’s the power of community that drives change. Meridian 2020 will be about fostering discussions around how the work of the Stellar community can and will have tangible impacts on our world. I hope you’ll all join us in November!
