Best Practices to Optimize the Development Process
Self-Assessment Evaluation

Our self-assessment evaluation describes 250 best practices to analyze your product development environment. Your company rates itself on those areas most important to product design in a systematic approach based on a proven five year-old technique jointly developed by DHBA and DRM Associates.

The 250 best practices are organized into five key areas for product development: (1) product and business strategy, (2) organization and people, (3) process flow, (4) methodologies and techniques, and (5) technologies and tools. Organizing the best practices within each key area produces a comprehensive view of critical elements for product development. Each area intersects with the others to produce a complete mapping.

The application is available on a free diskette. By answering the questions, your company determines which best practices are important to it and how the performance measures up to expectations. The self-assessment evaluation serves the needs of design and manufacturing engineers participating in a program to optimize the design process.

If you complete the self-assessment evaluation and return a copy of the diskette to us, then we will mail you a summary overview of the combined results for all participating companies. You can com- pare your scoring with the industry averages.DHBA is building a database of all completed question sets. Our data- base will provide you the benchmark information to evaluate your company in comparison with the others.
